Love defines us. What we love, how we love, who we love ultimately defines who we are and what we become. This explains why Solomon said, “Watch over your heart with all diligence for from it flow the springs of life”. (Pro. 4:23 NASV)
“Which is the greatest commandment in the law?” (Matt 22:36 NIV) This was the question posed to Jesus. But behind it was the ageless question, “What is most important?” Where should I focus my attention? What is my purpose? There are so many voices, both good and bad, vying for attention. Jesus’ response was immediate and straightforward. He said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments, depends the whole law and the prophets” (Matt 22:37-38). The Apostle Paul adds, “The purpose of our teaching is Love” ITim 1:5.
